Hot Air Balloon Ride for two in the Lake District

Private Hot air balloon flights for two in the Lake District

An adventure flight for lovers of Mountains and lakes. These are very special flights that can only take place under optimal conditions. There may be a wait while the weather gathers itself together to provide the ideal conditions for this “Bucket List” flight of a lifetime. In order for this to happen the key component is your availability – you will need to be flexible in your approach to taking the flight and be available when we call.

E

Our balloon flights are totally exclusive, the basket is not shared with anyone else, other than your Pilot.

E

The launch site for your flight will be chosen by your Pilot to give the optimum flight for the forecast wind direction. Special requests will be considered.

E

Flights take place during BST and are only available early in the morning before any turbulence starts. Flight times change throughout the season, see our Guide to Flight Times.

E

You deal directly with us, no agencies or outside influences involved.

Balloon Flight for 2 in the Lake District

£1500
The Bucket List adventure flight.

Our flights include

A private early morning hot air balloon flight in the Lake District.
Includes bubbly and post flight breakfast.

The initial flight date is chosen by you

Initially we will place the date of your choosing in our diary. In the run up to your flight we will be in touch a couple of days ahead with a weather outlook. On the lunchtime of the day prior to your flight we will decide if the weather is suitable, if it is, then we confirm the meeting point for the pre-flight briefing, if not, we place you on the standby list.

Your Flight Experience

Please allow around four hours for the whole experience, from your initial arrival at the launch site/meeting point, until the time that we return. During your time with us after the initial greeting, you will be given a pre-flight briefing, then invited to assist in the laying out and inflation of the balloon, enjoy a flight over outstanding scenery and then after landing, assist in the deflation and packing away of the balloon. Bubbly will be served, it’s all part of the experience!

To book a balloon flight

Please complete and submit the booking form. We ask for an initial flight date and for details of those flying. Payment is made through our secure checkout.

Ballooning is very weather dependant

We do not fly when rain, turbulence or poor visibility are forecast. We only take off in light surface winds, this is because we can’t inflate the balloon if the winds are too strong.

The standby list

If we are unable to fly you on your initial flight date, we will be in contact as soon as we see suitable weather forecast. You should not need to wait very long.

Your availability

Generally when we see good weather forecast you will get an Email notification from us to let you know. If you are available then you should let us know as soon as you can. Normally you will get two or three days notice.

Fit to fly

It is important that you are in good health, you need to be able to climb in and out of the basket, stand whilst in flight for at least an hour and possibly tolerate a bumpy landing. You must not fly if pregnant.

Final Payment

Payment for your flight can be made using Apple/Google pay, Visa and Mastercard credit cards through our payment page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is previous ballooning experience necessary?

None at all everyone is welcome

What should I wear?

Sturdy flat waterproof shoes are ideal, the ground is often quite damp first thing in the morning. If you are comfortably standing on the ground, you may only require a light additional layer. It is recommended that you wear natural fabrics.

Is there a feeling of motion during the flight?

Not normally as the basket hangs motionless in the air current in which it is travelling. The feeling is one of remaining motionless as the ground is wound by underneath you

How fast do we fly?

We travel at the same speed as the wind. The maximum forecast wind speed we fly in is 15 mph at 2000’. Winds are generally lightest on the surface first thing in the morning, this is the ideal time to go flying.

How physical is the landing?

Some landings are very gentle, others will involve a bump, the basket tipping and being dragged down the field as air is released from the envelope. It depends on the wind strength.

Is age of consideration when taking a flight?

As long as you are tall enough to see out of the basket (roughly aged 10 or more) fit and healthy you should be fine. You should not fly if you are pregnant.

Do I have to fly to join in the adventure?

Non-flying participants are invited to follow our retrieve vehicle by road and can assist with the take off and landing

Is there any form of etiquette I should follow?

We ask that anyone following the balloon by road waits until we have the landowners permission before entering the landing field.

Should I bring my camera?

Certainly! With our beautiful balloons, the smiling faces they produce and our glorious countryside, even your phone will create a marvellous record of your adventure. Make sure it is fully charged!
