Once again our annual pilgrimage has taken us Hot Air Ballooning to the Alps to the picturesque little village of Filzmoos, located an hour to the southeast of Salzburg. I have been coming here since the 1980s when together with Dave Partridge we competed in the long distance race that would take us far from the village, sometimes to the East beyond Graz and sometimes to the North beyond the Danube. Ballooning for hours at up to 17,000′ in freezing temperatures has now been replaced by something more comfortable. These days it’s nice to enjoy the scenery, the other balloons, the local cuisine and the company of friends, Happy days!
